Libre Graphics
What is Libre Graphics ?
From the word itself 'Libre' which means free, basically free software. The ones that we have worked most have been Inkscape and Gimp.
'“Free software” means software that respects users' freedom and community. Roughly, it means that the users have the freedom to run, copy, distribute, study, change and improve the software. Thus, “free software” is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of “free” as in “free speech,” not as in “free beer”. We sometimes call it “libre software” to show we do not mean it is gratis.'

Experimentation with both applications, to learn and experience the free software for not everyone agrees with the idea of paying for it.
The Infinity Inkscape
The infinity work that i did on Inkscape was done through creating many circles using the pink circle tool which is on the right of the screenshots taken.
We had to work with scaling and inspired from the video about earth and the universe i decided to come up with this which was made possible by the ability to zoom in a lot in Inkscape and the it will not loose quality
The second exercise with scaling was done in Gimp
This is the image that i used to work with on Gimp, a board of wood. What i do with it is i zoom very close and try to manipulate the image so it gets a howl other idea.
After i zoomed in the board of wood , i go to colour balance to add a little bit more red to it .
After that i go to filters to distort a bit the image , to try to give the board a different perspective. I pixelate a bit the image as well. In the end, with the type tool i write CITIES , which sort of ruins the image .
The idea behind this id say is that what was a board of wood used to be a tree. Cities are destroying the environment, same way as the word on the image gives it a displeasing look.
After the exercise i just wanted to experiment a bit more with the applications so i could get the hang of it and gain a bit more knowledge about them.
In this second image you can tell the tool that i used to manipulate the typeface which originally was bauhaus , nut now you can barely tell
Even though it is good to know that there is always a back up plan when you are a bit cash poor and can not afford to pay real adobe photoshop, i still prefer to pay for software which is made in a more professional way , easier to use , faster as well.
